Why This Hotel Exists

Born from personal experience.

Sojourn Riddiford has a very personal connection to Wellington Hospital.

Our founders, Mike Price and Michelle Dykes, spent time at Wellington Hospital after their daughter was born prematurely and cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Years later, when the opportunity arose to purchase the former Salvation Army building opposite the hospital, that experience helped shape what would become Sojourn Riddiford. 

It also left them with a belief that continues to shape Sojourn today:

When people are tired, under pressure and away from home, the smallest details matter most.

A comfortable bed. A warm welcome. Somewhere to make a meal. Someone there when you need help. And the reassurance of knowing you're staying close to where you need to be.
